I recently finished the book "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall. It was a great read, and has provided me with some motivation for my upcoming first marathon. This books starts to uncover the reasons why humans run. I don't want to provide a book report, but there is a main point, that many athletes miss. Running should be done with good form, and be enjoyable. I still perfer cycling to running, but there is something primal and rewarding about moving your body over a great distance under you own power.
Below is a TED talk from the author's that gives a good overview of the book, and natural running.
